Max Biaggi hung on to win the World Superbike title ahead of Britain's Tom Sykes by the narrowest of margins at Magny Cours. After Biaggi had crashed in race one in France, Sykes knew that if he won the second race Biaggi - who had struggled all weekend at Magny Cours - would need to finish fifth or better to hold him off in the final standings. And though Sykes won the race by nearly two seconds from Jonathan Rea, Biaggi clinched the fifth place he needed to win the championships by just half a point.
