Cristiano Ronaldo fired Real ahead with a close range finish moments before the halftime whistle. Having finished the first half on a high, Karim Benzema doubled Real’s advantage seconds into the second half with a brilliant scissors-kicked finish. Ajax got a foothold in the match when Niklas Moisander buried a header in a 56th minute corner.
