Slovakian youngster Peter Sagan sprinted to his second win of the Vuelta with a convincing victory in stage 12 in Galicia, north-west Spain. The 21-year-old Liquigas rider beat Germany’s John Degankolb (HTC) by a bike length in the bunch sprint at the end of the 167km stage from Ponteareas to Pontevedra. Italy’s Daniele Bennati (Leopard-Trek) finished third ahead of compatriot Alessandro Petacchi (Lampre). Argentine Juan Jose Haedo (Saxo Bank) was fourth ahead of Belgian Tom Boonen (Quick Step).
