BMW rider Marco Melandri boosted his World Superbike title hopes with a dramatic race two victory at Motorland Aragon in Spain. Melandri passed Eugene Laverty halfway around the last lap to claim the win, following a four-way duel with the Irishman, Chaz Davies and Max Biaggi. Laverty settled for second ahead of Davies (ParkinGO MTC Aprilia) and Aprilia team-mate Biaggi. Series leader Biaggi has 248.5 points, with Melandri (200.5) moving up to second after the weekend ahead of Honda’s Jonathan Rea (183).
